Chapter 1

“Everyone now stand up for the pledge of allegiance.” Mrs. Whitefield announced to the class. Everyone, but the popular girl at Silvermen High School stood up. Instead, she kept her head down, tired due to lack of sleep. “Ms. Haughton…” she quickly looked up to gaze at the teacher. “…do you care to stand up and recite the allegiance? Obviously, you didn’t bother doing it with the class.” she rolled her eyes, and slowly arose from her seat.

“I pledge the allegiance to the flag…of the United States of America.” a close friend of hers, Justin Timberlake, a popular guy in school watched her closely. “And to the republic of which it stands. One nation…under God…indivisible…with liberty and justice for all.”

“Thanks, Ms. Haughton.” she rolled her eyes, and sat back down.

“Pissss.” someone hissed at her. She looked over her shoulder to gaze at Hailie, one of her friends. “Here.” she handed her a folded up note.

“What is this?” she asked while accepting it out of her hand.

“I dunno. Someone passed it to me…to give to you.” she unfolded the letter, and began reading.

LiLi,

Remember to meet me at the food court for lunch.

P.S. Stay sweet

A smile came across her face as she slowly folded it back up. She looked over her shoulder to gaze at Justin. He held a smirk on his face as he continued gazing at her. She grinned sexily, and looked back to stare at the teacher.

Finally, lunch was here. Aaliyah walked headed down the hall with her friends, Hailie and Ariel. “…and he looked so fine. I got his number. We’re supposed to go out tonight.”

“Yeah, baby. It’s Friday night.” Hailie song.

“Ariel…be careful, girl. You just met the guy. Don’t rush into things.” Aaliyah assured.

“I won’t. I always take your advice.” she smiled warmly, and exited the building.

“Well…I’ll see you guys later. I gotta…”

“…meet Justin, right?” Ariel ended.

“We know. By the way…what’s the hold up? We know he likes you, and you like him.” she shrugged her shoulders while fiddling with her purse zipper.

“I dunno. I thought he was dating that girl. What’s her name again?”

“Um…damn…” Hailie snapped her fingers as she thought of the name. “…I know it. It’s on the tip of my tongue.”

“OLIVER! Yeah that’s her name.” Ariel blurted out. “No. He been dumped her…about three months ago. Don’t you see the signs? The way he looks at you in class. He always try to help you in your work.”

“Plus…you two known each other since kindergarten. AND you stay next door to each other. You guys will make the PERFECT MATCH! Believe what we say. We’re the experts in lovebirds.”

“Mmm hmm.” Ariel agreed while nodding her head. “Now…run along. Tell Justin I said hi.” she chuckled.

“I will. Bye.” she turned and headed down the sidewalk.

A few minutes later, she began to get closer to the table she was supposed to meet Justin. There he was, sitting at the table with a familiar lady. “Ugh.” she slowed down her pace as she got closer to the two. “Um…” they both looked up to gaze at her. “Am…I interrupting anything? You wanted me to meet you here, but…I see plans have changed.”

“Oh…no. Oliver was just leaving.” he gazed at Oliver. “I’ll see you around.”

“Sure.” she stood up, and left the table.

“Well…” he moved aside, and patted an area for her to seat. “Have a seat.” she sat her purse on the table, and took the seat beside him. “So…how is your day so far? I just came out of hell. You’ve heard about Mrs. Halloway, right?” she nodded.

“Yeah. Why? What happened?”

“Hmm…well…” he stuffed a fry in his mouth. “…she had the nerve to get on my case about whether the class should suffer. I mean…I don’t remember being the teacher here. That’s exactly what I told her.” she shook her head pathetically.

“That’s stupid of her. Maybe…she needs a man…and not only that. One who can satisfy her needs.” he broke out laughing.

“You’re right about that.” he gazed deeply in her eyes as he slowly chewed on a fry. “Um…want some?” he offered.

“Uh…no thanks. I’m trying to…train myself from eating so much of fast food. They sorta…break me out. Especially when it’s that time of month.” his eyes lit up.

“Oh yeah. I understand.” she bit the bottom of her lip, and held her head down. “Any way…what are you doing tonight? I just got paid. Wanna…go out somewhere…you know…hang out together?”

“Um…” she looked up to gaze in his blue, crystal clear eyes. “That would be great, but…I’m sorta broke at the moment. I just had to pay my phone bill, and…half the rent of my apartment that I share with Ariel, and Hailie.”

“No problem. I didn’t say you were treating.” he spoke irresistibly, something that made her melt.

“Well uh…there shouldn’t be any problem. Ahaha.”

“Yeah.” he looked away, and sipped his coke. “What time can I pick you up?” he gawked to the side to stare at her.

“Um…I guess…around…seven. Is that okay with you?” she held an innocent look.

“Of coarse. Anything for you.” he licked his lips as he continued gazing in her eyes. She quickly looked away, avoiding eye contact.

“Well uh…are you gonna finish your fries?” he chuckled, and slid the box of fries in her reach.

“Enjoy. I wasn’t really…that hungry.” he spoke as she ate. “I wanna…save my appetite for later on tonight.” she slightly choked off her food.

“Excuse me.”

“Here.” he handed her his coke. “Are you okay?” he watched as she sipped the substance.

“Um…yeah.” she stood up, and brushed down her outfit. “I just remembered I had a make up test in Mr. Arnolds class.” he watched her collect her books. “I’ll see you at seven. Call me before you come.”

“Alright. Bye.” she smiled, and turned, heading the opposite direction. He kept his eyes on her as he continued eating.
